Halloween Collage Contest
 

Helga says: Somerset Studio’s upcoming theme is Halloween. Your original Halloween artwork is due to them by April 15, 2008. I thought it would be really cool if we hosted a Halloween contest that you could participate in and then submit your artwork to Somerset Studio. It’s certainly not required but remember that if your Halloween artwork is published and ARTchix is mentioned as a source, we will give you a $25 gift certificate to our online shop. Hooray, that means everyone has the potential to be a winner in this contest!

What to make: A Halloween themed collage (any size and shape you’d like)

Required ARTchix products: At least 1 of these 3 items: Chixies Halloween faux postage sheet, Black Swan Wings and/ or ATC Creativity Kit: Halloween

Prizes: Our YahooGroup will vote for the winner of a $50 gift certificate to our online shop.

Helga says: We've had so many requests for a chunky book swap so I think it's time! The theme for this swap is "By the Sea" which is also the theme for this year's Art and Soul retreat. I'll be teaching a DreamBox class there in early October (join me if you can!). I thought it would be so much fun to take this chunky book with me to share with everyone.

I'm in love with the sea/ ocean theme! I just had our bathroom painted a beautiful Caribbean blue so I've been obsessing over all things ocean: seashells, mermaids, sand, beach treasures, tropical fish, turquoise waters, ahhhhh. : )

You will notice that I've titled this an "unbound" chunky book swap. That's because I've been thinking that it would be more fun if you could do what you'd like to the collages you receive instead of having them pre-bound for you. Maybe you'd like to frame a few of your favorites? Or put them in an album? Or maybe you have some gorgeous ribbon you'd like to use to bind them together in a funky way. I think it's best to leave it up to you. : )

When all of the swap artwork has been received, I’ll be selecting my favorites to create a gorgeous new collage sheet (YAY!) so please send us your best artwork. In addition, I'll select my absolute favorite one and the winner will receive a $100 gift certificate. 

What to make: Make a 4" square collage (front and back) with a "By the Sea" theme. Then make 76 photocopies (front and back) onto heavy cardstock. (I like to photocopy my collages onto sticker paper and then stick them to Watercolor paper. Then I can paint the edges which is fun and gives a bit of a handmade touch.). Another option is to print your collages onto heavy cardstock, with the front and back, side by side. Then you can cut them out and fold them in half and glue them together in the center. I've seen this before and it looks really nice. Feel free to get creative and photocopy as you wish....the key is to make your pages nice and sturdy.

Helga says: I enjoyed designing our first sets of buttons so much that I thought you would really like the process too! And a great way to do this is by making collages with approx. 1" "bubbles" (images/ collages inside of circles) on Artist Trading Cards.  So, give it a whirl, it's so much fun!

When all of the swap artwork has been received, I’ll be selecting my favorites to create a collection of new buttons and one winner will win a $100 gift certificate to our online shop! Hooray! So please send us your best artwork.

What to make: 6 Artist Trading Cards (collages that are each 2.5” x 3.5”) with "bubbles", circles and/or dots. Original artwork only please, no photocopies.
