Free Class: Bamboo Pendants by Karen Strauss

Class Description

Aren't these pendants just gorgeous? The instructions below are specifically for Pendant #1. But you can use the same ideas to make Pendants #2 and #3 too. My Mom made these and I begged her to share the instructions with all of you. They're so cool!
 
ARTchix Studio Supplies General Supplies and Tools
ARTchix bamboo tile 4 jump rings, 6mm o.d.
Mini velvet leaf
no longer available		 2 inches of chain, approx. 3mm wide
Images and background papers for collage: like Petite Parade II ½ inch of chain, approx. 1.5 mm wide
  Wire and headpins as needed
  Assorted beads
  Glue of choice
  Mod Podge or matte varnish
  Round and chain nose pliers
  Small sharp scissors
   
Instructions for Pendant #1
1. Cut circle from background paper and image to be collaged. I used a hole punch that was 5/8 inch in diameter. Glue both to wooden disk. Seal surface with Mod Podge or other matte varnish for protection

2. Open two jump rings and insert through holes on sides of disk. Loop large chain through each jump ring and close.

3. At center top of chain, insert a jump ring for attaching pendant to a cord or chain as desired.

4. Open a jump ring and insert into bottom hole of wooden disk, slip smaller chain loop into jump ring and close.

5. Embellish fine chain with assorted beads and or charms, as desired.

6. Trim tiny velvet leaf to an even smaller size with small scissors so that it is in proportion to the size of the wooden disk. Slip wrapped wire stem through hole at top of disk and bring around disk and through hole again. Coil remaining stem around round nose pliers for a tendril effect.
