When I saw the Divine Post Faux Postage
Sheet for the first time, it was reminiscent of a Christmas card that I
received from my grandmother years ago. I thought a magnet that I could
see everyday would be a nice reminder of her. That’s what inspired this
project. These inspirational magnets can also be made into mini ornament
gift tags for your Christmas gifts, or made into pins to wear around the
holidays.

1.
Paint wood circle in acrylic paint of your choice.
2. Trace painted circle onto an Antique Italian encyclopedia page. Cut
out and glue on top with matte medium. (*note: once glued, I usually
turn the circle over and trim the encyclopedia page with a craft knife.
I then sand the edges lightly to smooth the edges.)
3. Cut out image of your choice from the Divine Post Faux Postage Sheet.
I used a color copy because the paper is easier to work with. If you are
using the stickers, make sure to cut entire image first, peel, and then
cut around mother and child, then stick to wood circle.
4. After image is in place, take a small paintbrush or your finger and
dab the metallic kim gold paint around image, and wherever else on the
wood circle you like.
5. Next, using your finger, edge the circle with the main acrylic paint
you have chosen.
6. Glue small rhinestones with matte medium above image and around
sides. Cover back, top, and sides of rhinestones to insure they’ll stay
in place. For copper magnet/tag: blue and orange, for light blue: red and
yellow, and for green: purple and yellow. (They can be difficult to
handle, so I use my paintbrush with matte medium to pick them up and
manoeuvre them.) Let dry for at least a few hours.
7. Using 3D glue, cover entire surface of piece. Let dry overnight.
Magnet.
Using your finger, or small paintbrush, cover back of magnet with a
light coat of gel medium. Attach to wood circle. Let dry overnight.
Mini Ornament
Gift Tag. Cut about 5 or 6 inches of desired color of hand
dyed rick rack and glue the piece to back of circle to form a loop. I
like to use a mini glue gun/low heat. I just squeeze about a dot on the
rick rack, attach to circle, and press firmly. However, you can use
another glue of your choice to adhere. Tie package like you usually
would, but before securing a bow, put a strand of the rick rack in the
loop of the mini ornament gift tag and tie the bow. Your recipient not
only has a lovely decorative package, but an added gift as well.
Pins. Peel
and stick self adhesive pin backs onto wood circles.

You can write
“To” & “From” with a fine point Sharpie marker on the back,
or if the paint color is darker, you can either use a silver paint
pen, or write your message on a piece of paper and then adhere to
the back with matte medium. Another option is taking words from a
book that say, “Joy”, or “Merry Christmas”, or “Peace”, and
attaching that to the back.
