To start,
I cut 3"x3" squares out of watercolor
paper (I use Cold Presses 140 pound paper so that it's nice and heavy
and can hold 3-D objects well). Then, I think of my theme and I gather
my ARTCHIX pieces that relate. Try starting with a Faux Postage piece
glued down with Golden Gel medium and work from there. I add other
collage pictures, sometimes I paint or sand around them. ARTCHIX always lends to neat ideas that otherwise may
not have occurred to me. I also love to take all my buckets of
scraps and dump them out and sift through them to decide how to
assemble the remainder of my Itty Bitty. I add ARTCHIX German scrap,
in all the colors because there are so many and it just really adds
class to your art! I even like to use found objects like an old tiny
doll shoe.
Then I paint and sand and add tinsel or whatever
suits my fancy. Sometimes I even stitch around the outer edges or
even around my paper ARTchix pieces for extra added dimension. Top
it off often with an ARTchix charm or metal bit. Viola the perfect
Itty Bitty and gift for a friend!
When I
make my Itty Bitty’s, I like to take my time and be ornate so they
can take anywhere from one to two hours. I know some people go more
simple with theirs though and they come out just as nicely and with
less time I am certain.
