Introduction
My name is Carol Murphy and I am a mixed media
artist and instructor living in El Cajon, California. I have two
wonderful sons, two beautiful daughters in law, and a beautiful
granddaughter, Zoë. Samantha, “Sam” for short, is my lovable and “most
gorgeous” canine housemate. I work full time with Special Education kids
and have done so for twenty seven years.
Growing up as an only child, art and creativity has always been a part
of my life. I started teaching mixed media classes in 2005 and by 2006
just had to add ARTchix images to many of my techniques and designs. My
style is sort of “controlled chaos” using lots of textures, layers, and
colors. Because I have a very “loose” style, I find collage and mixed
media to be a perfect outlet for my creative spirit. Helga’s collage
sheets and wonderful Shoppe have been a huge influence and inspiration
in my art.
My work has been published in many Stampington publications along with
“Altered Art,” “CorrespondenceART” and “PaperART” magazines. Most of my
art pieces and articles include ARTchix images. Some of my pieces can be
viewed in the following categories of this site: “Purses,” “Published”,
“Collage”, and “Winners.” Along with loving the ARTchix website I
absolutely love being a part of the ARTchix family, which of course
includes the wonderful Yahoo Group, Helga and James. I have been inspired
by all of you and it is truly quite an honour to be included as a
