About Kelly
Introduction
My name is Kelly Parsons. I live in Victoria, BC, where I love to hang out at ARTchix Studio as often as they’ll have me! I live with two adorable cats, Hazel and Griffy. I became a grandmother last October and my grandson Nicholas is the newest love of my life.

I have always enjoyed spending time making and creating. I drew, cut and crayoned my way through childhood and learned to sew and knit from my Mom. I have always had and needed some sort of creative self-expression, which runs the gamut from playing the Irish harp and writing poetry, through to what I now love to do—collage, ATCs, altered books, etc.

I’m happy with my life and it’s a delight to share my art with other ARTchix and ARTchux.

Artwork #1: Collage

Title Asian Beeswax Collage

ARTchix Products
Gentle Geishas Collage Sheet
It's In The Mail Collage Sheet
  Instructions
1. Using a 5”x5” mat board and Golden Matte Medium, create a collage using torn pieces of specialty papers, including Asian, tissue, rice papers, etc. Let dry.
2. Melt beeswax in a heating unit. When wax is melted, spread a thin layer over collage using a paintbrush. Continue to build up layers of beeswax until desired coverage is achieved (not too much). Use a quilting iron to smooth out beeswax as desired. Allow beeswax to harden.
3. Rub beeswax with various metallic pigment powders, according to the color of the collage papers used.
4. Cut out geisha image, and postal label, trimming closely. Paint both with Paper Plus Tea Dye Varnish. Crumple postal label and rub with Tea Dye Distress Ink Glue images to collage using UHU glue stick.
5. Using a Lark’s Head knot, tie a generous length of 5/8” bias cut silk ribbon onto a tortoise ring. Slip an Asian coin onto each strand of ribbon, positioning them at the top left and right corners of collage. When correct hanging position is determined, apply Diamond Glaze to underside of coins. Hold coin tightly against collage surface for several seconds, until adhesive has taken hold.
