About Lenna
Introduction
My name is Lenna Andrews and I live in Northern Connecticut with my husband Steven Deming and our two dogs. When we aren’t busy working on collaborative art projects, Steven and I love taking our dogs for a run up the hill through the beautiful woods behind our home, so inspiring! We also really love visiting his family’s property on rural Wolfe Island, located in Ontario, Canada, right on the St. Lawrence River.

I am a published mixed-media artist and instructor who loves ARTchix Studio products. In fact, I created so much ARTchix art, that Helga and James offered me the job of representing their company! I teach classes based on ARTchix products, and offer these products wholesale to the stores I teach at. What fun!

Growing up, I was encouraged to take art and dance classes and I have been considered ‘creative’ all of my life. I have done many different things, but doing mixed media art is where I am most happiest creating. ARTchix Studio products are so varied, interesting, and easy to work with, no wonder I reach for them so often! I enjoy that Helga and James are always coming up with wonderful new products and are so good about their customer service.

Artwork #1: Collage on canvas board
Title I Am My Art

ARTchix Products
Gold Medieval Borders
Velvet Leaves - Pink/ Moss

  Instructions
1. Start by painting your canvas with a couple of complimentary colors of acrylic paint. Let dry.
2. Choose a large ARTchix Studio image like the woman from a
collage sheet and leave an edge of the black frame showing when you cut it out. Apply it to the canvas with gel medium.
3. Pick out a favorite quote and print it out onto paper using your ink jet printer. Add that to the canvas with gel medium.
4. Add
Gold Borders to the top, and a cancelled postage stamp.
5. Use permanent ink and word stamps to stamp on top of the canvas and the image.
6. Coat some black string with gel medium and apply randomly to the canvas.
7. Take the stem of
Velvet Leaves and wrap it around a skewer until it curls. Then use Goop Glue or some other strong glue to attach the velvet leaves to the canvas, on top of the central image.
8. Add birch bark to the bottom of the canvas with Goop Glue. Stand back and admire!

Artwork #2: Collage on canvas board
Title What If?

ARTchix Products
Classic Nudes collage sheet
Seaside Cuties collage sheet

  Instructions
1. Paint a canvas board with two or more colors of acrylic paint. Make this a watery wash of paint.
2. While it is wet, sprinkle baking soda on top of the paint wash. Let it dry naturally or speed up the drying process after the reaction has taken place, with a heat gun.
3. Cut out ARTchix Studio images like the ones from the
Classic Nudes and Seaside Cuties collage sheet so only the figure remains. Use glue or gel medium to attach them to your canvas.
4. Add bits of gold paper to the canvas with gel medium or glue.
5. Add a bit of plastic mesh across the middle of the canvas like a net.
6. Stamp a word or two with permanent ink.
7. Add ribbon around the edge of the collage like a frame, and add a small string of beads and you are done!

Artwork #3: Collage on canvas paper
Title Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus

ARTchix Products
collage sheet
  Instructions
1. Paint a piece of canvas paper with watered down acrylic paints; use more than one color. Let this dry naturally or use a heat gun to speed up the drying.
2. Pull a paper napkin apart so just one thin layer remains, and apply it to the canvas. Put gel medium on the canvas first, then lay the paper napkin over and smooth.
3. Apply the central image from a
collage sheet to the canvas with gel medium.
4. Cut out appropriate words for your theme from an old book page and also apply to your canvas with gel medium.
5. Use Ranger’s Adirondack Color Wash in Butterscotch to spritz over the collage.
6. Add Krylon’s 14K Gold Leaf pen to add a frame around the image and the entire collage.  Enjoy!

Artwork #4: Book

Title Untitled

ARTchix Products
Gold Borders
La Belle Epoque collage sheet
Playful Nudes transparency sheet
ARTchix Free Gift sticker

Instructions
I learned how to make this Double Needle Coptic bound book in a class I took with Kelly Kilmer; a fabulous teacher! For the cover of the book I used a fun image my friend, Clarissa, had sent me. I surrounded it with A gold border and filigree stars; using Tacky Glue to attach the paper borders and Goop Glue to attach the metal stars.

For the inside pages I simply used a number of ARTchix Studio images of beautiful women like the ones from the La Belle Epoque collage sheet and Playful Nudes transparency sheet, complimented by some kind of wash of Twinkling H2O’s on the same page. The page with the “I love ARTchix Studio” sticker also sports a picture of me as a young girl on the opposite page. Well . . .  it’s true, I do love ARTchix Studio!
