In The Studio

by Helga Strauss

Here is just a taste of what's been going on in the studio lately...

Here is my inspiration board that has been propped up on my art desk while I created the fun art pieces to show off our Summer 2011 Collection.

I recently saw the Water for Elephants movie and that lead me to researching a bit about elephants. Did you know that they're symbols of good luck? Well, that got me excited because we all need some good luck these days. I also had a blast painting our Elephant Eco Embellishments with Ranger Crackle Paint to mimic the texture of their skin. I added a bit of rub on to accentuate the crackles. Love this!

Happy elephants inspired me to design a Stand Up Stage and Frame to give them a special place of honor.

The elephants also brought about Circus Tents. Bruno peeked in on the photo session and was quite enamored with the festive cupcake topper that I made.

After seeing the amazing blue glaciers in Alaska, I was inspired to host a Blue Art Challenge on our Facebook fan page. Seeing all of the amazing blue photos by our fans made me dig out some of my favorite blue treasures around my house.

These treasures inspired our new Dress Me Up Dolls collage sheet. Here I made a cute skirt for an Artist Trading Card on our new Eco ATCs.

Seeing all of this blue inspired me to dig out my postage stamp collection too. Doesn't everyone need a Blue Post collage sheet?

Our Blue Post collage sheet looks especially awesome as a background for our new Red Coral.

Inca smiled and watched over me while I made some fun Ocean themed ATCs using our new Red Seahorses, Chunky Seahorses, Red Coral, Chunky Coral and Eco Embellishments.

Little did I know the disaster that was in store for me. Inca knocked over my box of sequins! What a mess!!!

But messes can sometimes be blessings in disguise. While picking up the sequins, I realized they'd be perfect as "bubbles" for this Red Seahorse ATC that I was working on.

I had so much fun playing with our new seahorses and corals. See my Ocean ATCs class for details.

This new set of ATCs needed a unique, cool way to display them.  So, I arted up some clothespins and added them to our new Classic Eco Book. Super easy and fun to make!
