In The Studio: Antiqued Windows
by Helga Strauss

This week, I was inspired by Kathy Cameron and the beautiful antiqued windows she made on these ATCs that feature our Eco Chunky Mini Cats. Aren't they lovely?

Upon seeing them, I was dying to play with crackle paint. So, I went to my studio and pulled out all of the needed supplies: Eco Windows, acrylic paints, Ranger Crackle Paint in a variety of colors, foam brushes, container for water, paper towels and newsprint. It was sunny and nice outside so....

I went outside and set up everything on our hot tub lid. It was a great surface to work on and was perfect counter-top height...who knew? It was exactly what I needed.

I painted all of the Eco Windows with a variety of acrylic paints. I had some extra paint so I painted a whole bunch more...might as well use up all of that paint.

While waiting for the paint to dry, oh look, it's a lovely day...how 'bout I take a pic of my cute outfit? lol.

Back to painting...yay, the paint is dry. So, I shake the bottle of Ranger Crackle Paint (this one's Antique Linen) and paint it onto one of our Scalloped Stage Frames.

I want to highlight the cracks, so I draw on a bit of charcoal.

Then I rub the charcoal into the cracks and now you can see the beautiful, antiqued finish.

Here it is with black crackle paint and white pastel crayon rubbed into the cracks.

Ta da! A whole bunch of awesome antiqued windows!

When I pulled the windows inside, I started thinking about what would look nice behind the panes. Here I placed a variety of ephemera bits. Love! The antique finish of the window looks perfect with the antique paper pieces.

I also couldn't resist pairing an antiqued window with vintage sheet music. A match made in heaven!

In fact, I loved it so much that I decided to make a Special Gift of the Week: Place an order today (over $25) and get a free sheet of authentic vintage music + 2 of my Antiqued Windows. Sorry this gift is no longer available.
