Garden Book of Quotes

by Helga Strauss

Make this special, beautiful, little book filled with uplifting quotes for yourself or a loved one!

Unpack your brand new Garden Book of Quotes kit  and lay out all of the beautiful images. Gather together your supplies- all I needed to make mine was scissors and glue- yay!

Trace your arches onto the background sheets and cut out. You will have enough images to cover both sides of three arches.

Use your glue stick to adhere the pretty background images onto the arches- trim edges if necessary.

Next I chose the images I wanted to use to tell my story and cut them out. Have fun laying them out and playing with them before gluing them down.

We interrupt this class for a Cute Kitty Break. Inca wants some love! : )

Here is my little Quote Book all laid out and ready to be glued down. I did front and back because I want to stand it up on my desk and look at both sides

Now to add a little color embellishment. I used water color crayons and my favorite gel pen to finish my edges and highlight some areas.

Time to tie it all together! I used a felt pen to mark where I want the holes to be and then punched them out- easy peasy!

Here is what my lovely little Quote Book. I could punch holes all on one side so that it looks like a regular book like this. But I decided to punch holes on each side of the middle page to turn it into an accordion.

Using the red ribbon provided, just thread it through the holes, tie a knot and cut the ends off.

Ta da! Here is my Quote Book all done and ready to be enjoyed :)

Here's the other side. : )

If you don't feel like it or don't have time to make the whole book- doing up just one of the arches to hang is fun too! Also, please know that you'll have lots of images leftover after you make your little book. So, I'd recommend purchasing a package of our Gothic Arches so that you can make some more. I made this collage by using leftover images from the kit and a Gothic Arch. Here is what I did: I cut up the background sheet into inchie shapes and laid them out to be glued down.

After I adhered the inchies and trimmed the edges, I added a layer of Gesso to blend it all together.

Then I cut out the images I wanted to use and a quote, stuck it down with my glue stick and framed it all with a fun colorful heart shape using my watercolor crayons. Punch two holes in the top and thread your ribbon through. How fast and easy is that? Now you have a cute little hanging arch to brighten your day :)

Even after making my Garden Book of Quotes and my hanging arch, I still have enough leftovers to play with more Eco Shapes! yay!
