Collage Notebooks

by Linda Kunsman

These delightful little books are so fun, quick and easy to put together that you'll be addicted to creating them, so be sure to buy plenty of books! I found my little notebooks 2/pkg for 99 cents at Target. Make some of these up and keep them aside for when you need a last minute little gift!

Here's what I used:
ARTchix Supplies: Tell Me a Story series of word collage sheets, background collage sheets such as the button sheets or the decorative papers, image sheets (the ARTchix Cards sets are the perfect size for this project!), German scrap/borders, rayon ribbons, any other bits you may want for embellishing

Other Supplies: mini composition books (4 ½" x 3 ¼" or 11.4cm x 8.2 cm), good glue stick, Collage Pauge Matte or Perfect Paper Adhesive, foam brush, scissors, watercolor crayons.

To start, cut out two pieces of background paper slightly larger than the book covers, keeping one straight edge to butt against the book's black binding . Spread a thin coat of adhesive over the covers, avoiding the binding. Immediately lay the paper on top carefully working from the binding edge for a straight adhesion. Press with a book or brayer to smooth paper.

Once dry, trim away excess.

Cut a 17" length of ribbon. Fold it in half and place the ribbon fold around the book spine. Center the ribbon across the covers. I usually place my images down and arrange the ribbon as needed before gluing anything down. Add just a dab of glue (where it won't show) to hold the ribbon in place.

Glue your image down over the ribbon.

Finish with some words and light embellishings, tie your ribbon, and voila! Tip: I like to highlight the words by going around them with a Caran D'Ache watercolor crayon.

Further Inspiration: Keep one to list ongoing swaps and projects along with the due dates and ideas!
