Postcard Collage
by Helga Strauss
Want to make up a quick, fun, beautiful postcard to send to a friend or loved one? Try this. : ) You could also add a bit of ribbon to the top and turn it into an ornament for hanging. This would also make a cool birthday card on a present too.

First, I pulled out a few of my favorite image sheets: Green World, Passion for Pink, Create Art and Pretty Pink Flowers. In addition, I grabbed an old postcard that I didn't have a good use for. I'll be using it as my base for this collage.

Next, I decided to make a simple checkerboard background. I simply folded and tore various images into approx. 2” squares.

While I was tearing up papers, Bruno stole my chair and snuggled in for a nap.

I glued my squares to my postcard with Tacky Glue. And then I thought it would be fun to add polka dots so I punched out circles in 2 sizes.

I blended my background squares together by painting on white Gesso. Or white acrylic paint would work too.

I wanted to put our Spoil Me Chick image onto the postcard inside an arch shape. So, I cut out an arch from our Handmade Gothic Arches sheet and used it as a template to cut my punched polka dot background.

Inca shows up on the scene! As you can see, now I've got my polka dot arch and polka dots and images ready to go.

I adhere the arch with Tacky Glue and then add gesso in the circles and on the outer edge of the arch shape. I love finger painting! : )

So, here is where I'm at. Almost done!

Ta da! I added the Spoil Me Chick, watercolor crayons to highlight the dots and arch shape, and I ripped up a little paper drink umbrella and glued pieces down with Tacky Glue.

Of course, I had to collage the back a bit too! I added some bits from Pretty Pink Flowers, Green World, Create Art and Chixies Cute Cat Post.
