Owl Charms

by Helga Strauss

Want to make some cute owl charms for yourself or loved ones? They make awesome little gifts on their own or turn these charms into earrings, bracelets and necklaces.

First pull out our Night Owls collage sheet, Dark Cherry Wood Labels, 3 holes and Inchie Wood Tags, 2 holes. Cut out images as desired. I have a 1" square punch so I easily punched out the owl inchies and cut out the fun labels from the same collage sheet.

Glue the image to your Inchie Wood Tag. I used Inkssentials Glue N' Seal. It's nice and includes a brush in the cap of the jar making it super easy to paint on. Golden's Matte Medium, Modge Podge, Crafter's Pick Ultimate Glue, Diamond Glaze will also work too so use whatever you have on hand.

Press paper image onto Wood Tag and burnish well with your hands or even a brayer if you have one handy. Let dry. Then paint a coat of varnish over your image. You can paint another coat of Inkssentials Glue N' Seal for this or whatever you have on hand. I was in the process of making over 100 charms as gifts to include with orders so I used a general purpose spray varnish. A spray varnish is a lot easier when you're making a large quantity.

Glue and varnish labels from the Night Owls collage sheet to the Dark Cherry Wood Labels, 3 holes just like you did for the inchies above.

Ta da! Here they are after they've all had a coat of spray varnish.

Inca had to stop by for a peek.

When the varnish is dry, poke holes with an awl and attach jumprings and charms as desired. Don't these inchie charms look so cute? They would be great as earrings or a necklace too.

And here are the labels with Feather Charms and Mini Owl Charms attached with jumprings. These would look so pretty as necklaces.
