Packaging for an Art Swap
by Helga Strauss
I made 6 Artist Trading Cards for an ARTchix Art Swap. Wanna see how I made them? See Collage 101: Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3. Now it's time to get them ready for an art swap.

Here are the 6 Artist Trading Cards that I made.

Are you surrounded by tiny paper scraps leftover from making your art for the swap? Instead of tossing them, how about adding them to the backs of your art?

Oh wait, here comes Bruno to check 'em out!

Okay, so, here's what I did: I grabbed my leftover paper scraps and just started gluing them down as I went without thinking too much. Fun and fast...just go with the flow. In addition, I added a label with my name and address on each one. I bought these online at Bohtieque Design (bohtieque.etsy.com). Then I wrote my email address with a black Sharpie on each one.

I didn't like the way the blank spots looked so I scribbled on some watercolor crayon to blend everything together.

Then I blended the watercolor crayon in with a damp watercolor brush. Looks much better, eh? : )

Okay, now my Artist Trading Cards are done. At this point, I could put them all into one plastic bag and mail them. Or I could make them extra fabulous! Yeah, extra fabulous-ness sounds great to me! So, I pull out Cello Envelopes, a variety of Photo Charms to include as little gifts and some cute stickers: Blog Sticker Collection and Chixies Lovely Gift Labels.

Into each Cello Envelope goes an Artist Trading Card and a few Photo Charms.

And Blog Stickers and Chixies Labels for extra sweetness.

My, don't they look lovely in their Cello Envelopes? : )
Come play in our wonderful Art Swaps! They're such a great way to stretch your creativity and make new art friends!
