Shrinky Dinks!
Shrinky Dinks: Before and After
by Helga Strauss and Jackie McColl
To make these delightful Shrinky Dink charms, you need Shrinky Dinks for Computer Inket Printers (available at Michaels craft stores), a home Inkjet printer and our Digital Downloads. You simply print your desired images onto Shrink Plastic, cut them out and pop them in the oven. Fun and easy! Here are some before and after photos and some helpful hints for you when you are making your fun Shrinky Dink charms!

Here are some examples of Shrinky Dinks printed onto plastic (larger ones) and what they look like after being baked in the oven (small ones). Keep in mind that Shrinky Dinks For Computer Inkjet Printers (available at Michael's craft stores) shrink to just under half of their original size.

Our Classic Vintage Buttons sheet makes awesome shrinky dink charms. Before baking, try punching out shapes using a variety of punches in different shapes and sizes. We tried hearts and butterflies here...easy and fun! Martha Stewart punches seemed to work the best. See the Shrinky Dinks on the right...this is what they look like after being baked in the oven...see how many cute and tiny charms this one sheet makes. : )

Inchie madness! The original inchies are on the left. And the Shrinky Dink charms after being baked are on the right. Love the way the inchie sheets shrink down! The colors are so vibrant! Use your own digital photos to make charms celebrating your Summer vacation! Or simply use Helga's Inchies in Paradise sheet, as you can see, it makes awesome Shrinky Dink charms!

Cool butterflies! Wow! There are mini butterflies everywhere! Won't these look awesome in your art?! Original sheet is on the left...and Shrinky Dink charms after being baked are on the right.

Close up- you can leave a little space around the antennae when you are cutting them out so that you have room to make the hole for dangling.

Even the smallest butterflies on the sheet shrunk down just fine! Micro butterflies!

This silhouette sheet turned out to be one of Jackie's faves- the colors seemed to come to life and the variety of sizes is terrific.

Close up of Cool Silhouette - I can't wait to sew this charm onto an ATC- love the way it looks with holes punched top and bottom! Shrinky Dink Buttons anyone?!

This was Helga's favorite Shrinky Dink sheet: Chixies Art Happiness featuring inspiring art from a past art swap that we hosted. It made the cutest lil' charms ever!

Close up - You can still see all of the amazing details even when you shrink it. I love the way the faux post dotted frame looks too.

Here are some of the sheets of faux post we used and loved the results: Pretty Flower Post, Chixies Halloween Faux Post and Papillon Faux Post.

Don't Helga's fabulous flower photos on her Pretty Flower Post look amazing as shrinky dink charms? Such vibrant colors! My new favorite sheet!

How about a little Halloween fun? Having a themed party? Just add a few shrinky dink charms into the party favor mix and you will "wow" your friends! Chixies Halloween Faux Post is fantastic!

Butterflies from Papillon Faux Post. Yay! Add one to a special card or make some fun jewelery for a birthday party! Occupy those teens this Summer and make it a family affair! The ideas are endless! Must... go... make... more....
