Quick & Easy Wood Ornaments

by Helga Strauss

Want to make some quick, easy and beautiful ornaments for yourself and your loved ones?

Pull out 2 of our Honey Butter Birdhouse Pendants in size XL. Along with our XL Nature Filled Houses transparency sheet, scissors and Glue Dots.

Cut out desired transparency image.

Add a layer of Glue Dots onto backside of Birdhouse Pendant. Press transparency image into place. Then add another layer of Glue Dots and press second Birdhouse pendant into place. Note: Crafter's Pick Ultimate, Gel Medium and just about any white glue you have on hand will also work well for this. I just find Glue Dots are great when you're in a hurry.

Poke hole through transparency at the top of ornament with an awl.

Add Large Feather Charm and ribbon and your ornament is ready for hanging.

Here is another ornament made in the same exact way but it uses our Dark Cherry House Pendant in size XL. Love the kitty peeking through the window. It's fun to layer the transparencies too..I added a transparency "smile" to this one using Diamond Glaze.

Another fun idea with our wood pendants...you can paint them with acrylic paints. Here I fingerpainted a Natural Birdhouse Pendant in size XL with green and white acrylic paints. Fun and easy!

Next, I poked a hole just above the window with an awl. The birch wood is nice and soft, easy to poke holes into.

For the final step, I wired on a Glass Owl Bead. And then tied on some ribbon...cute, eh?

Another idea for an ornament: pull out a Honey Butter Tag/Back in size XL. Trace vintage text and glue it to the tag/back.

Add images as desired. Here I added a Dancing Kitty and Mini Eco Chunky Heart... and then topped them off with a Honey Butter Wood Frame in size XL. I also added an eyelet to the top hole, I thought it finished it off nicely.

So many possibilities! I'm dying to make some Christmas ornaments with all of our Wood Jewelry next!
