Collage by
Helga
|
This is the
first collage that I made in my new art studio. I found all of these
little bits and bobs at the bottom of a box when I was moving. There was
no way that I could throw them away! So, I decided to make a collage out
of them instead. What fun! |

Letter from Helga |

Helga in her studio |

Dear Art Friend,
Hope all is well and happy in your world. Here in ARTchix-land, life
is good!
I recently moved my art studio so that it is just opposite my computer
desk in the same room. This means I can be typing you an email one
minute...and the next minute, I can be flinging a paintbrush around. I’m
so energized and excited by this big change! I will post photos of my
new space on our website soon. I still need to re-arrange and organize
everything something awful. So, stay tuned. In the meantime, I thought
I’d tell you about some of the awesome things Santa brought me this year
for my art studio (see page 4). I’m a lucky girl!
Speaking of Santa, in this issue, I’m dreaming of the fantastical
Christmas cards that I’ll make later this year. I haven’t made holiday
cards for about 6 years now so I’m gathering my ideas now in hopes of
finally ending my guilt for my lack of holiday correspondence.
I also just designed a new kit for us...Romantic
Keepsakes Kit. And I thought I’d give it a whirl and share my
findings with you. I sure had fun! See what I made on page 5.
In honor of Valentines Day, check out some of my favorite Romantic -
themed ARTchix products on page 6.
Wishing you a wonderful, love and art-filled 2007,
Helga

Inspiration |
| I was so lucky to receive
these beautiful holiday cards. I, unfortunately, didn’t have a chance to
make Christmas cards as I had hoped. But after receiving these gorgeous
cards, I’m all inspired to get an early start on my Christmas cards for
this year. |

Card by Jackie
McColl
Jackie is my wonderful helper
here in ARTchix-land. She made about 30 of these cards for us this
year and I thought they were really neat. First, she made a collage
and copied it a whole bunch of times in various sizes. Then she
framed the collage in different, decorative ways (with an ARTchix
copper archway here). This way, she didn’t
get bored making the exact same card every single time. She was able
to play a bit with every card. Cool! |

Tag by
Denise Ketterer
Love how Denise mounted an
ARTchix Divine faux postage stamp on
this tag...it’s raised giving it a 3-D effect! |

I spy one of our
microscope slide sized images
on this
card, yay! Lori included a lil’ note that pulls out of Santa’s bag.
Wow! |

| My
Art Studio |
| I had a
really good Christmas! Santa, James, friends and family were really
good to me. I was good to me too. I bought myself the wire torso
below in November and hid it in a closet until the big day. I think
it's really important to treat ourselves. |

HUGE Bulletin
Board
I always find cool, inspiring
images and ideas in magazines. Now I have a place to put them all:
my new gigantic bulletin board. It sits right next to my art desk so
I can look at it for inspiration any time I get stuck while I’m
creating. |
|
iMode for My iPod
Now I can listen to iPod music,
CDs and radio...and I can watch movies on my iPod screen too! All
this while I make art. Too cool! |

Fun

It’s a family tradition to do a
puzzle at Christmastime. Then the pieces go into my studio for
altering later! |

| My
Art Projects |
| I just
designed our new Romantic Keepsakes Kit.
I love how they turned out! Valentine's Day is just around the
corner so I thought I'd make some quick gifts for a few special
friends with the kit. Here are some thoughts and ideas to consider
when you're playing with it: |

General Notes:
* If you’re making one of these as a gift, it’s fun to add the lucky
gift recipients name, date, and/ or a special message to personalize
your gift. I did so on the ornament and necklace shown here.
* I thought all of these pieces would look extra cool if they were
decoratively attached to the front of a card or an ATC. Perhaps an
image of a branch (from a magazine, rubber stamp, clip art, etc.)
with one of these keepsakes artfully attached would look swell. Or,
you could even hang one from a faux clothesline. |

Perfect ARTchix
Additions:
* NEW Romantic Charms Collection
(no longer available). I added a “Token of Love” charm with the jump ring
provided to the ornament, and a heart charm to the pin. Both shown
here.
* Silver Ball Chain Necklaces (#AB647).
See my necklace. Next time, I may add snippets of ribbon all along
the ball chain. I saw this style in Paris...tres chic!
* German Scrap. I added a snippet of
our German Pink Floral Borders
(#G919)
to the back of the necklace shown....love it!
* NEW Silver Photo Charms (#AB1071) +
Circle Pix collage sheet (#M114) +
Diamond Glaze. I made the photo charm dangling from the pin shown
here with these items. |

Favorite Products: Romance |
| Romantic
themed art is for more than just our hubbies and significant
others...it’s for our moms, aunts, friends, the women in our lives
that we love and cherish. We’re all romantics at heart after all,
aren’t we? Here are just a few of my favorite romance-inspired
products: |
 |
|
 |
1)
NEW! Poste d’Amour Faux Postage Sheet
(#P312)
The gorgeous collages on this
sheet were made by talented members of
our
YahooGroup. When my Mom saw them, she said she couldn’t bear
to cut them up because they’re just too beautiful. So, she’s decided
to get 2 copies...one to collect and one to cut up. They’re perfect
for spicing up your envelopes, collages and more! |
|
2)
Heart & Soul Collage Sheet
(#M151)
These handmade hearts were made
by Belinda Schneider in Luxembourg. They’re so beautiful! |

3)
Raspberry Metal Roses

Love these metal roses! You can
attach them to your cards by sewing or gluing them into place or
stick ‘em on with a Glue Dot.
|

Turn anyone into an angel with
these exquisite pink paper wings! |

These
gorgeous Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) were all created for our German
Red Scrap Swap. Aren’t they stunning? I thought it was really neat
to see how these talented artists used our
scrap borders in such
unique and fun ways. |
